Samanoo Baraghan - The Root Vow

“The Root Vow” of the 400-Year-Old Ashura Ritual in Burghan
Since this ceremony is accompanied by the baking of Semno and is related to the germination of wheat in its ritual form, the Burghans call this ceremony “The Root Vow.” Given that Semnoi of Burghan is registered in the intangible heritage, this ceremony is included in the group of social customs and traditions, rituals and celebrations related to the lunar year.
According to one of the existing manuscripts, the people of Burghan village, especially the Bekai, Burghani, Shahidi and Karami families, have been holding the “Root Vow” ceremony for many years.

Barghan Plum

The fame of Burghan plums in the country has become exemplary, and locals also call them Burghan tomatoes, and in fact, they are a hybrid product that has a special taste and flavor.
The traditional knowledge of processing plums in Burghan is also unique to this village, and due to the uniqueness of the preparation of this product, the Alborz Cultural Heritage Directorate has registered (traditional knowledge of processing) these products.
The harvest of this product begins in mid-August and continues for 2 weeks.
Burghan plums have been registered as intangible heritage.

Intangible Heritage

Gole Berghan Ice Cream

Another product that has been registered as an intangible heritage and enjoys a special reputation is Barghan ice cream. Given that this ice cream is made from fresh milk from sheep flocks, it is known as herd ice cream among the people of Barghan and Taleghan. The registration of Iranian intangible heritage is of particular importance because within this intangible heritage lies the culture and customs of the ancestors.
